Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 27, 2026

Home Technologies Inc., doing business as Archetype Work ("Archetype," "we," "us," or "our"), makes a sensor device that clips to your monitor (the "Device") and a companion app for Mac (the "App") that measure workplace health and focus signals. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Device, the App, our website at www.archetype.work, and your purchases (together, the "Service"), how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.

The short version

  • Camera images never leave your Device and Mac. Your Mac turns each image into measurements, such as blink rate and posture, in memory, then discards it. The Device keeps one image every 5 seconds on its own memory card until it restarts.
  • The microphone never records. The Device reduces sound to a loudness level and three frequency bands. No audio is stored or sent anywhere.
  • Your scores are calculated on our servers, so the measurements are uploaded to us.
  • Nothing is sensed until you consent. We collect health and biometric data only after your separate consent in the App, and you can withdraw it at any time.
  • AI features use outside AI providers. They process your data to answer you and do not train their models on it.
  • We do not sell your information or use it for advertising, and we do not identify you from your face.
  • You can see, export, or delete your data by emailing hello@archetypework.io.

1. Who we are

Home Technologies Inc., doing business as Archetype Work, 548 Market St #956573, San Francisco, California 94104. Email: hello@archetypework.io. We are responsible for the personal information described in this Policy.

2. How the Device and App handle sensor data

The Device has a near-infrared camera, a microphone, a distance sensor, a light sensor, and a temperature and humidity sensor. It connects to your Mac with a USB cable. This table shows where each kind of data is processed and what reaches our servers.

Data Where it is processed What reaches our servers
Camera images (grayscale, near-infrared) Sent by cable from the Device to your Mac. The App analyzes each image in memory and discards it. The Device also saves one full image every 5 seconds to its memory card, where it stays until the Device restarts. Never. Only the measurements listed in Section 3.2.
Sound Reduced on the Device to a loudness level (decibels) and three frequency bands. The loudness level and frequency bands. Audio is never recorded or sent.
Distance, light, temperature, humidity Measured on the Device. The readings.
Face and body measurements Calculated by the App on your Mac from camera images. The measurements.
Scores and insights Calculated on our servers from the measurements and readings. Stored with your account.
Mac activity Recorded by the App on your Mac. App names, website domains, and mouse activity counts. Page titles, full web addresses, and window titles stay on your Mac.
Calendar Read by the App on your Mac. Busy and free times only. Event titles, attendees, and notes stay on your Mac.

The App also keeps a local copy of your data on your Mac, including details that are never uploaded. The Device connects to the internet only to register itself with our servers, using its serial number, hardware identifiers, and software version, and to download software updates.

We do not use camera images or measurements to recognize who you are, and the Service has no face recognition. If other people appear in the camera's view, their images are handled the same way as yours: analyzed in memory on your Mac, kept on the Device only until it next starts up, never uploaded, and never used to identify them.

3. Information we collect

3.1 Information you give us

  • Account: your name, email address, and profile photo, which we receive from Google when you sign in with your Google account. We never receive or store a password.
  • Profile: your birth year, sex, and occupation, which you enter in the App.
  • Orders and billing: your name, email address, shipping address, phone number if you provide it, order history, and Pro subscription status. Your card details are collected and stored by our payment processor, Stripe. We see only the card type, last four digits, and expiration date.
  • Preorder list: your email address when you reserve a Device on our website.
  • Messages and feedback: emails, support requests, and feedback reports. A feedback report sent from the App automatically includes information about your Mac and Device and the last 60 lines of the App's log, plus any screenshots or screen recordings you attach.
  • Chat: messages you send in the App's chat, and "memories" the AI saves about you, such as your goals and preferences.
  • Research: information you provide in a research study you have separately agreed to join.

3.2 Sensor, health, and biometric data (only after your consent)

  • Face and body measurements, calculated on your Mac from camera images: estimated probabilities of seven facial expressions of emotion; heart rate and breathing rate estimated from the camera image; body pose landmarks (the positions of points such as your head and shoulders); and eye openness and blink rate.
  • Sound: loudness in decibels and the share of sound in three frequency bands.
  • Environment: your distance from the screen, light level and color, temperature, and humidity.
  • Scores and insights: your health, focus, capacity, eye strain, posture, and stress scores, and the insights we generate from them.

Some of this is health information, and some is biometric information under certain laws, such as the measurements derived from your face and body. We treat all of it as sensitive personal information, whether or not a law requires it.

3.3 Information from your Mac

  • Activity: the name of the app you are using, the website domain (such as github.com) open in Safari or Chrome if you give the App macOS Automation permission, and counts of mouse clicks, scrolling, and movement. We do not monitor your keyboard or read your screen, and we do not upload page titles, full web addresses, or window titles.
  • Calendar: with your macOS Calendar permission, the App reads when you are busy or free. Event titles, attendees, and notes stay on your Mac. Calendar features can create and update events in a calendar named "Archetype" on your Mac.
  • Location: if you allow macOS Location Services, your precise location; otherwise, your approximate location based on your IP address. We use it to get local weather and outdoor air quality, and we store it with your readings.
  • Device and technical information: the Device's serial number and hardware identifiers (such as its network address), model, and software version; your Mac's operating system and App version; your IP address; and diagnostic logs.

3.4 Information from integrations you connect

  • Granola: your Granola API key, and the meeting notes and transcripts we import, which may include other people's names and what they said. We use AI to generate insights from them.
  • Slack: permission to set your Slack status and Do Not Disturb. We use it only for that.

3.5 Our website

Our website does not use cookies, analytics, or advertising trackers. Our hosting provider records technical information, such as IP addresses and browser type, to deliver and secure the site. When you preorder, we collect your email address.

3.6 Information from others

  • Google: your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in.
  • Stripe: payment confirmation and billing status.
  • Shipping carriers: delivery status.

4. How we use information

  • Provide the Service: run the Device and App, calculate your scores and insights, sync your account, and provide chat, briefs, and other features.
  • AI features: send the data each feature needs to our AI providers (Section 6) to generate responses, summaries, and insights.
  • Orders and billing: process payments, ship Devices, handle cancellations, returns, refunds, and warranty claims, and manage Pro, including the email before free Pro ends.
  • Support and improvement: answer questions, investigate problems you report, and improve the Service, including the algorithms that calculate your scores.
  • Communications: send service, order, and billing messages and, unless you opt out, product updates and marketing. You can unsubscribe from marketing at any time using the link in any marketing email.
  • Research: use de-identified or aggregated data in research and publications. We use identifiable data in a study only with your separate consent to that study.
  • Security and legal: keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.

What we do not do:

  • We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
  • We do not use sensor, health, or biometric data for advertising or to identify you.
  • We do not use your identifiable data to train AI models, and our AI providers do not train on it. If we ever want to, we will ask for your separate consent first.
  • We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects based only on automated processing.

5. Your consent

Before the Device collects any sensor data, the App asks for your explicit consent to collect and use your health and biometric data as described in this Policy. This consent is separate from accepting our Terms of Service and this Policy. The Device's sensing and the App's data collection start only after you give it. Each person who uses the Device gives their own consent under their own account.

We also ask you separately before:

  • using macOS Location Services, Calendar, or Automation, which you can turn on or off at any time in macOS System Settings;
  • adding you to a cohort leaderboard (Section 6);
  • connecting an integration;
  • including you in a research study.

Withdrawing consent. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing hello@archetypework.io. To stop sensing right away, unplug the Device. After you withdraw, we delete the health and biometric data we hold about you within 45 days. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that happened before you withdrew it.

6. How we share information

We share personal information only as described here.

Service providers. These companies process information on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of it to providing services to us.

Provider What they do for us What they receive
Amazon Web Services Cloud hosting, databases, and file storage (Ohio, US). All information we store.
Amazon Bedrock (AWS), running Anthropic's Claude models Main AI provider for chat, daily briefs, day narration, and insights (Oregon, US). The data each AI feature needs, which can include your scores and measurements, Mac activity, calendar busy times, profile, AI memories, chat messages, and imported meeting notes.
OpenAI Backup AI provider, used only when Amazon Bedrock is unavailable. The same data as Amazon Bedrock, for that request.
Google Sign in with Google. Your sign-in request.
Stripe Payments and subscription billing. Name, email address, billing details, card details, and purchase amounts.
Brevo Preorder list, marketing, and service emails. Email address, name, and whether you open our emails.
CrabNebula Delivers App updates. IP address and App version.
Slack Our internal workspace, where feedback reports arrive, and our private customer community. Feedback reports with your email address and up to two attached screenshots or screen recordings, and your posts if you join the community.
Linear Tracks bugs we find in feedback reports. Contents of feedback reports.
Vercel Hosts our website. IP address and browser information.
Shipping carriers Deliver Devices and returns. Name, shipping address, and phone number if you provided one.

AI providers. We send each AI request only the data that feature needs. Amazon Bedrock and OpenAI process it to return a response to us and, under their terms for business customers, do not use it to train their models. OpenAI may keep request data for up to 30 days to check for abuse before deleting it.

Weather and location services. To show local weather and air quality, the App sends a location to MET Norway (weather) and OpenAQ (air quality). If precise location is off, it first asks ipapi.co to estimate your location from your IP address. These requests come from your Mac, so these services also see your IP address, but they do not receive your name, email address, or sensor data.

At your direction:

  • Cohort members: if you join a cohort, its members see your name (or, if you have not set one, the first part of your email address), your profile photo, and your Health, Focus, and Capacity scores. You can leave at any time.
  • Integrations you connect, such as Granola and Slack.
  • Research partners, if you agree to take part in a study. Otherwise, they receive only de-identified or aggregated data.

Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the buyer or successor, who must continue to honor this Policy.

Legal reasons. When required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when needed to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or us.

Our team. Authorized members of our team can access your information when needed to provide support, fix problems, and improve the Service. They are bound by confidentiality obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or sell, lease, or trade biometric information. We have not done any of these in the past 12 months.

7. Where we store information

We store and process your information in the United States, on Amazon Web Services in Ohio, with AI processing in Oregon. Our other service providers may also process it in the United States.

8. How long we keep information

  • No sale: we do not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from biometric information. We disclose it only to service providers acting on our behalf (Section 6), when required by law, or with your consent.
  • Retention and destruction: we permanently destroy biometric information at the earliest of 45 days after you delete your account, 45 days after you withdraw consent, or 12 months after your last interaction with the Service. Copies in backups are overwritten within a further 35 days.
  • Security: we store, transmit, and protect biometric information with a reasonable standard of care, at least as protective as the way we protect our other confidential and sensitive information.
  • Incidents: if a security incident may have compromised biometric information, we will investigate, contain it, and notify affected users and authorities as required by law.

10. Your rights and choices

Everyone who uses the Service has these rights, whichever state they live in:
